官方對於托福獨立寫作的滿分要求如下：
An essay at this level largely accomplishes all of the following:
1. Effectively addresses the topic and task
2. Is well organized and well developed, using clearly appropriate explanations, exemplifications, and/or details
3. Displays unity, progression, and coherence
4. Displays consistent facility in the use of language, demonstrating syntactic variety, appropriate word choice, and idiomaticity, though it may have minor lexical or grammatical errors.
標準解讀：
⊛ addresses the topic
在托福寫作中，考生所表達的觀點要和題目要求相關、一致。另外，考生所提供的例證也要切題，只有這樣的例子才有說服力。
⊛ well organized & well developed
托福滿分作文的行文組織要系統，有邏輯性。考生在提出論點之後，必須尋找相關的例證來支持和充實自己的論點。需要強調的是，在托福考試中，考生雖然可以發散地進行說理和尋找例證，但若是將自己所舉的例證進行一定加工，按照由主到次、讓步轉折等順序進行排列，則能更好顯示出各個例證之間的邏輯關係，讓舉例或是說理論證的過程更有層次性。這樣的文章才稱得上well-organized and well-developed.

【托福寫作】強調句：經典電影《終極追殺令》
經典電影《終極追殺令》(英文原名Leon)中有這麼一個場景：
Mathilda去警察局找殺了她弟弟的仇人Stan警官，Mathilda在廁所撞見了Stan，Stan拿著槍，低著身對Mathilda說了一句話：
It’s when you start to become really afraid of death that you learn to appreciate life.
人只有開始變得非常害怕死亡的時候才能學會珍惜生命。
這個句子不僅充滿了哲理，而且是學習托福寫作的好題材，因為這是一個強調句。強調句可以為小夥伴們的托福獨立寫作增添色彩，讓考官覺得：“這個人肚子裡有點東西。”
現在就來看看強調句的寫法，其實強調句的公式非常簡單，就是：
It is/was + 強調部分 + that + 剩餘部分.(當謂語動詞是過去式的時候用was)
但要注意一個規則：強調人可以用that或who，但強調其他成分要用that，也就是說，強調時間不能用when，強調地點不能用where，下面我們就來強調一下以下句子的各個部分——

✽ Before we get into the list, it turns out the number one thing to stop relying on is your own willpower - that's basically the worst approach to keeping a resolution, and is the reason why so many of us never start exercising more, continue eating all that fried chicken, and still can't speak a word of French.
