Prepositions are short words that show location and position.
Two common prepositions are ‘on’ and ‘in’.
‘The cake fell on the floor.’
‘Now the cake is in the bin.’
But there are many other preposition that show location, like 'under, 'between' or 'at':
'The dog is under the table.'
'The mouse is between the cat and the door.'
'My sunglasses are at the bottom of the pool.'
We also use prepositions like 'in' or 'on' to talk about a place in time:
'We met in March 2013.'
'Will I see you on my birthday?'
'Let’s go to the beach in summer.'
